Just got a suspicious call from someone claiming to be a bank officer, CBI agent or courier company? You are in the right place.
Reporting that number takes less than 5 minutes. And the faster you do it, the better the chance of stopping that scammer from targeting someone else, or getting your money back if you have already lost some.
This guide covers every official way to report a fraud call in India in 2026, step by step.
Why Reporting a Scam Call Actually Matters
Most people hang up and move on. That is exactly what scammers are counting on.
When you report a fraud number, authorities can trace the SIM card, freeze linked bank accounts and warn others before more people get hurt. The government’s MuleHunter AI system, run by I4C, actively uses reported numbers to track criminal networks operating across India.
One report from you can lead to dozens of arrests. It takes 5 minutes.
Before You Report: Save This Evidence First
Do not call or text the fraud number back. Before you start reporting, take two minutes and gather these:
- Screenshot your call log. The number, the date, the time, all of it
- Save any SMS, WhatsApp message or link they sent you
- If money was transferred, note down the transaction details from your banking app
- Screenshot any UPI ID or account number they shared during the call
The more you have, the stronger your complaint. Now here is how to actually report it.
